Gender Distinction

A BIBLICAL VIEW OF GENDER DISTINCTION

Four areas of gender distinction:
  1. Sexuality
  2. Actions
  3. Clothing
  4. Hair
Modesty in Scripture: 
  • 1 Timothy 2:8-10
  • 1 Peter 3:1-5
  • Proverbs 7:9-12 
  • Isaiah 3:16-19
  • Exodus 28:42
Deuteronomy 22:5 (NKJV)

5 “A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment, for all who do so are an abomination to the Lord your God.
Civil Laws: laws that governed the nation of Israel, how they were supposed to divide up property and penalize crimes and organize their government. 
Ceremonial Laws: how sacrifices were to be made, how holidays were to be celebrated, how worship was to be offered. 
Moral Laws: the laws reflecting the holiness and morality of God and his eternal will for human beings. 
Civil and Ceremonial laws were fulfilled and perfected with the coming of Jesus Christ into the world. But God’s moral law reflects God’s holy moral nature. And his holy nature will never change!
Two types of abomination:
  1. Abomination to man
  2. Abomination to God
Abomination means: “detestable” and “to make one sick” 
Job 38:3
Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. (KJV)
It’s all about normalizing, what is not normal! 
Who wears the pants in your family?

1 Corinthians 11:3-5
But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head. 5 But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, for that is one and the same as if her head were shaved. (NKJV)

1 Corinthians 11:6

For if a woman is not covered, let her also be shorn. But if it is shameful for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered. (NKJV)
1 Corinthians 11:14-15
Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him? 15 But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a covering. (NKJV)
It is a mark of distinction

CONCLUSION

Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. (NKJV)
