1 Timothy 4:7-8 
But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. (NKJV) 
Godliness - the reverent awareness of God's sovereignty over every aspect of life, and the attendant determination to honor him in all one's conduct. 
Genesis 5:21-24 
Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Methuselah. 22 After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters. 23 So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. 24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. (NKJV)

Hebrews 11:5

Enoch: Walked with God, and pleased God

GROWING IN GODLINESS 

Godliness grows when we say no to certain things 
Hebrews 12:1 
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, (NKJV) 
Titus 2:11-12 
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, (NKJV) 
Godliness grows by accessing God’s power  
2 Peter 1:3 
as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, (NKJV) 
2 Peter 1:3 
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life… (NLT) 
Godliness grows out of reverence for God 
Romans 8:15 
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ā€œAbba, Father.ā€ (NKJV) 
Hebrews 12:28-29 
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. 29 For our God is a consuming fire. (NKJV) 
1 Timothy 6:15-16
…who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen. (NKJV)

Godliness grows from a desire for God 
Psalm 42:1 
As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. (NKJV) 
Philippians 3:8 
Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ; (NKJV)
