Lucifer attempted to steal worship from God while he was in heaven, and he continues to try to steal worship from God today!

INTRODUCTION

GOD'S DESIRE

  • In the beginning, God both created things, and He made things.
  • When you create something, that means you are making something from nothing.
  • When you make something, that means you are making something from something that already exists.

SCRIPTURE

Genesis 1:11 

Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. (NKJV)

Genesis 1:20

Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures…” (NKJV)

Genesis 1:24

Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so. (NKJV)

Genesis 1:26

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” (NKJV)

We came from God, we're sustained by God, and we are to return to God. 

Ephesians 2:1 

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, (NKJV)

John 10:10 

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (NKJV)

Our bodies come from the earth, but our spirits come from God.

HIS DESIRE

What does God desire? 

Genesis 2:20

So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. (NKJV)

  • God wanted a companion.
  • Adam wanted a companion.
  • “Woman,” means “from man” or “out of man.”
  • How did God know that Adam wanted a bride?
  • Because God had the very same desire!

 

Worship = Expressing Love

APPLICATION

Exodus 6:7, “I will take you as my people and I will be your God.” (NKJV)

Leviticus 26:12, ”I will walk among you and be your God and you shall be my people.” (NKJV)

Jeremiah 7:23, “But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people.” (NKJV)

Jeremiah 11:4, which I commanded your fathers in the day I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and do according to all that I command you; so shall you be My people, and I will be your God,’ (NKJV)

Jeremiah 24:7, “Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God…” (NKJV)

Jeremiah, 30:22, "You shall be my people and I will be your God." (NKJV)

Jeremiah 31:33, But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. (NKJV)

Ezekiel 11:20, “that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God.” (NKJV)

Ezekiel 14:11, “that the house of Israel may no longer stray from Me, nor be profaned anymore with all their transgressions, but that they may be My people and I may be their God,” (NKJV)

Ezekiel 36:28, “Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your God.” (NKJV)

Ezekiel 37:23, “They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God.” (NKJV)

Hosea 2:23, “Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’” (NKJV)

Zachariah 8:8, “I will bring them back, And they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. They shall be My people And I will be their God...” (NKJV)

Zachariah 13:9, “I will bring the one-third through the fire, Will refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them. I will say, ‘This is My people’; And each one will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’” (NKJV)

2 Corinthians 6:16, “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” (NKJV)

Hebrews 8:10, “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” (NKJV)

Revelation 21:1-3, “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.” (NKJV)

God wants us to be His people and He wants to be our God!
